How to Prepare for Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment
Follow these pre-treatment steps to get the best results.
4 Weeks Before Your Appointment
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanners.
- If you arrive with a tan or a sunburn, we may need to reschedule.
2 Weeks Before Your Appointment:
- Avoid using any Retin-A products in the treatment area.
24 Hours Before Your Appointment:
- Shave the treatment area.
- We can do minor touch-ups, but please shave large areas at home before you arrive.
- Do not wax, tweeze, or use hair removal creams at any time during treatment.
Day of Your Appointment
- Don’t wear makeup or skincare products on the treatment area.
- Any products on the skin must be thoroughly removed before treatment begins.
- If using a prescribed numbing cream:
- Apply a pea-sized amount to the treatment area 60–90 minutes before your appointment.
- Used sparingly and only on specific areas.
- Numbing cream should not be applied to multiple large areas on the same day and may only be applied to one of the following areas:
- Thighs (both)
- Lower legs (both)
- Back
- Chest
- Arms (both)
- If you have applied numbing cream to any of the above areas, don’t use on any other body area on the same day.
- Other areas not requiring numbing cream may be treated on the same day.
- Don’t cover the area where numbing cream was applied with gauze, tape, or any kind of dressing.
- This prescription should last for most or all of your treatments.
- Pregnant and nursing mothers can’t use numbing cream.
- Let us know if you have any pre-existing heart conditions
- Attire:
- Most procedures allow you to keep some or all clothing on.
- If you need to take your clothes off for your procedure, we will provide you a gown.
- If your bikini line is being treated, please wear a narrow-cut panty or swimsuit.
- Arrival:
- Please arrive on time for your appointment.
- We reserve the right to reschedule your appointment if you are late or haven’t followed the pre-treatment instructions
- Please note that children are not allowed in the laser rooms.

How to Care for Your Skin After Laser Hair Removal
Follow these post-treatment tips for the best results.
What to Expect:
- The hair shedding process takes 14 days on average.
For Best Results:
- Use SPF 30+ sunscreen with Zinc Oxide and/or Titanium Dioxide daily.
- Exfoliate skin after any redness and tenderness has subsided.
- Follow a good skincare regimen.
For 24-48 Hours After Your Treatment:
- Do not use Retin-A or other products that can cause skin irritation.
- If your skin is irritated after treatment, wait until it returns to normal to resume Retin-A use.
- Do not expose your skin to hot water, hot tubs, swimming pools, saunas, or other surroundings that cause skin to flush.
- Avoid intense exercise that can cause sweating or flushing in the treatment area.
- Do not shave the treatment area.
In Between Treatments:
- Avoid any other skincare procedures in the treatment area.
- Avoid using Retin-A or other products that can cause skin irritation.
- Stop using these products for at least two weeks prior to your next treatment.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for a minimum of four weeks prior to your next treatment.
- Do not tweeze, wax, or use hair removal creams.
If You Experience Redness or Sensitivity:
- Mild redness and a sunburn-like sensation are normal.
- Take Tylenol (acetaminophen) as needed for discomfort.
- Apply Vitamin E or Aloe Vera to soothe the treatment area.
- Use hydrocortisone cream if itching occurs
If Symptoms Last More Than 48 Hours:
- Call the clinic to speak with a medical professional.
- If your symptoms worsen or you’re experiencing symptoms other than the ones listed above, call the clinic to speak to a medical professional.
